Isso talvez se justifique, ao menos em parte, pela repercussão de Recordações do escrivão Isaías Caminha na sociedade carioca. Ao ambientar o personagem numa redação de jornal, Lima Barreto trata de maneira impiedosa a classe jornalística, que respondeu aos insultos banindo o autor da imprensa carioca. Lima Barreto writes contemporary fiction and has always been fascinated by character-driven stories. They hold a degree in English Literature and previously worked as an editor before transitioning to writing their own books. Lima Barreto lives with their spouse and a very vocal rescue cat.

Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Glad I picked this up.

Really enjoyed this one. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Will be looking for more from this author.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
