Overview: Erstmals erscheinen in ungekürzter Form und mit Originaldokumenten jene Aufzeichnungen, die Karl Ignaz Hennetmair Tag für Tag von all dem machte, was er mit Thomas Bernhard sprach und erlebte. 1972 beschloß der Realitätenhändler Karl Ignaz Hennetmair, ein Freund und Nachbar von Thomas Bernhard, über die Vorfälle und Gespräche dieses Jahres ein Tagebuch zu führen, und schuf damit ein Dokument von unschätzbarem Wert für alle Bernhard-Verehrer. Auch seine Feinde wären weiland gut bedient gewesen, denn die Mitschrift zeigt so manche dunkle Seite des Meisters, aber wo gibt es sie denn heute noch, die Bernhard-Hasser? Der Dichter hat naturgemäß seine Schwierigkeiten mit der Außenwelt, zunächst nimmt sie ihn nicht wahr, doch mit wachsendem Ruhm beginnt sie ihn zu bedrängen, tritt ihm näher, als ihm lieb ist, und manchmal hat sie die Neigung, ihn - der nur seine Literatur im Kopf hat - schlicht und einfach für dumm zu verkaufen. Um all dem zu begegnen, hatte Bernhard Hennetmair. Der vermittelte ihm nicht nur seine Realitäten, seine Häuser und Wälder, und verschaffte ihm die notwendigen, möglichst günstigen Verträge, sondern stellte sich auch zwischen den Dichter und die Realität im Sinne des zu bewältigenden Alltags. Er kümmerte sich um den kaputten Fernseher ebenso wie um den Seelenmüll, fungierte als Deponie und Wiederaufbereitungsanlage. Stets hielt er Bernhard unerwünschte Besucher vom Leib und empfing ihn selbst im Kreise seiner Familie als Gast. Da wurde dann geplaudert, gescherzt und die halbe Welt ausgerichtet. Not bad, but not my favorite. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Would probably read it again at some point.

Such a great read. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Glad I picked this up.
