الخطاب العربي المعاصر: قراءة نقدية في مفاهيم النهضة والتقديم والحداثة هو في أصله دراسة قدمها الباحث اللبناني فادي إسماعيل إلى الجامعة الأمريكية ببيروت سنة1987 للحصول على درجة الماجستير. وقد تناول فيها بالتحليل نماذج من الخطاب العربي المعاصر في الحقبة التاريخية ما بين1978-1987. يتكون الكتاب من181 صفحة من الحجم المتوسط ويحتوي على تمهيد ومقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة ثم ثبت بقائمة المراجع والكشاف العام.في تمهيد الكتاب ومقدمته، يحدد الباحث مهمة دراسته على أساس أنها دعوة لعملية قطع تدريجي مع التكوين النظري والمنهجي الذي يتحكم في حركتنا الفكرية والذي هو من مكونات الغلبة الحضارية وسيادة الأنموذج الغربي للمعرفة. ويقرر الباحث أن الأنموذج المعرفي التوحيدي هو الأنموذج القادر -تدريجياً- على القطع مع الأنموذج المعرفي السائد، لأنه الوحيد الذي يفتح آفاق التغيير الكامل، والذي لا يواجه الأنموذج الغربي في جانب لكي يصالحه في جانب آخر. ثم يضيف أنه ليس من هدف دراسته أن تتعالى على واقع التخلف الذي يرزح تحته العالم العربي والإسلامي، وإنما هي مساهمة في وعي التخلف وجهد ناصب نحو العدل الفكري ووضع الأمور في نصابها حتى لا يحمل الفكر التقليدي والقيم السائدة في مجتمعاتنا مسؤولية التخلف والهزائم. ذلك أن الكثير من الجرائم -كما يقرر الباحث- ارتكب في الفكر والواقع من قبل مجتمع النخبة في أقطارنا العربية والإسلامية باسم الحداثة والتقدم والتنمية: تقدم التبعية وتحديث القمع والاستبداد والتسلط وتنمية المسخ والمجتمعات "المفتونة"، وإنه في النهاية قد مررت تحت عباءة التقدم والحداثة والتنمية إجراءات وأفعال هي في النتيجة ضد الحداثة والتنمية والتقدم.وعن سؤال الأمير شكيب أرسلان: "لماذا تأخر المسلمون وتقدم غيرهم؟" يرى الباحث أن دراسته محاولة متأخرة للإجابة عن هذا السؤال أو بالأحرى عن سؤال مكمل هو: لماذا بعد أكثر من100 سنة من محاولات النهضة والتقدم والتوفيق مع العصر لم نتصالح معه ولم نتقدم؟ إن السؤال القديم: "لماذا تقدم الآخرون وتأخرنا نحن؟ لم يعد يتحكم بالإشكالية الثقافية الراهنة، بل حل محله سؤال آخر: لماذا لم نتقدم نحن بعد؟ الأمر الذي يجعل من الدراسة محاولة نقدية للخطاب العربي حول الحداثة، وللحداثة بما هي تجربة تاريخية عربية انتهت إلى أن تكون مجرد تطبيق قسري، وتقليد مبتسر، واستهلاك أيديولوجي "للحداثة والتقدم" الغربيين، دون أن يرافق ذلك تحديث للفكر والحريات وللعلاقات والنظم السائدة.منهجية القراءةلا يعود الباحث إلى النصوص النهضوية الأصلية، وإنما يحصر قراءته النقدية في الخطاب العربي المعاصر في نماذج مختارة من قراءات المفكرين العرب لمفاهيم وتجارب النهضة والتقدم والحداثة، وتركيب هذه القراءات من خلال ما يبشر به هذا الخطاب من أنموذج مجتمعي ثقافي ينتظم سائر تفرعاته. وليست النماذج الحضارية هنا عند الباحث سوى نموذجين اثنين: النموذج الغربي الأوروبي والنموذج العربي الإسلامي، النموذج الوافد غزواً والنموذج الموروث أصلاً. أما ما اصطلح على تسميته بالأنموذج التوفيقي للتقدم والنهضة فما هو -في رأي الباحث- إلا نظريات لا تقدم سوى حركة ذهنية لدى المثقفين، ليس لها أية تجسيدات حقيقية في أرض الواقع.وقد أجبر الأنموذج العربي الإسلامي للتقدم على التقهقر والانزواء تاريخياً، وفقد وظيفته التربوية والسياسية والاقتصادية، وانطوى على نفسه متراجعاً إلى خط دفاعي من موقع ثقافة المغلوبين وأيديولوجيتهم. أما الموقف التوفيقي فكان موقفاً مرحلياً انتقائياً وانتقالياً على طريق التغريب والتبعية الشاملة، وبذلك تنتفي أصالته نموذجاً مستقلاً للتقدم والنهضة، بل ما هو في النهاية إلا مساومة على الأصل وتكيف مع النموذج الوافد وتصالح معه. ومن ثم لم يكن الموقف التلفيقي في حقيقته إلا خطوة تاريخية متراجعة لصالح الأنموذج الحضاري الآخر، بوعي من أصحابه أو من دون وعي. بهذا كان التوفيق حركة ذهنية شكلية وقالباً فارغاً يملؤه القادرون على التحكم بحركة الواقع. أما الأنموذج الغربي للتقدم والنهضة فقد أمسى هو المتحكم بالواقع عبر الحضور الأوروبي المباشر في مرحلة الاستعمار، ثم عبر النخب الوطنية القائدة والأيديولوجيا التحديثية في مرحلة ما بعد الاستعمار المباشر، أو ما اصطلح عليه بالاستقلال.وبناء على هذا التحديد للنماذج الحضارية للتقدم والنهضة، يحدد الكاتب منهجية بحثه في القيام بالأمرين الآتيين:- قراءة نقدية تفكيكية لثقافة النخبة وأيديولوجيتها والأطروحات النظرية التي تساندها.- قراءة للثقافة المغلوبة على أمرها ولواقع جماعة المغلوبين، وهي قراءة يريدها الباحث ملتزمة ومتعاطفة مع المغلوبين، ومنحازة إليهم.محتوى القراءةيقدم الباحث في نهاية الفصل الأول من الكتاب مراجعة وصفية لمفاهيم النهضة والتقدم والتنوير والحداثة كما تصورها مفكرون عرب معاصرون، ويضمن هذا القسم مقتطفاتٍ مطولة أحياناً من كتب بعض هؤلاء المفكرين وشروحاً وتعليقات تتصل بمفاهيم العقل والحرية والتقدم والإنسان والاستنارة والعقلانية والفردية والأمة والحداثة... إلخ. ثم ينتقل في الفصل الثاني لاستعراض نماذج من القراءات الجديدة للمنتجات الفكرية لعصر النهضة العربي، ويصنف هذه القراءات في نمطين يتناول كل منهما بعداً محدداً.البعد المعرفي الثقافيفي هذا المستوى يتعرض الباحث لعدد من المفكرين العرب الدارسين لفكر النهضة من أمثال الكاتب المغربي كمال عبد اللطيف الذي يؤاخذ فكر النهضة بسبب جمعه بين المفاهيم والمنظومات الفكرية الأوروبية والمفاهيم الإسلامية العائدة للعصور الوسطى، دون التمييز بين أسس هذه المفاهيم وأبعادها ونتائج هذه الأسس والأبعاد في الفكر والممارسة، وهو ما يؤدي إلى تعليق الاختلافات وخلط أوراق الأفكار والأزمنة والعصور، فيصالح المتخاصم دون مراعاة حدود النظام والترتيب وقواعد إنتاج المنظومات النظرية. ومثل هذا الموقف يؤدي -حسب الكاتب المذكور- إلى إهمال الانتباه لتاريخية المفاهيم ودلالاتها الفلسفية، وما يختفي وراءها من مقاصد وأهداف وتجارب مجتمعية، لها شروط محددة هي...
