Overview: « Le Cambodge, pays des khmers, antique royaume paysan, a pour fatalité sa situation géographique tout contre le Vietnam. Viennent les guerres indochinoises. Après la France, les États-Unis s'attaquent au Vietnam communiste. Le Cambodge neutre est emporté par la tempête. Pour l'atteindre, l'Amérique n'hésite pas à lui passer sur le corps et à le piétiner. À chaque battement (une scène) la vie risque d'être perdue. Le Prince Sihanouk vit sur la Terre comme sur un scène de théâtre. Il prend le monde entier à part. Il se montre tel qu'il est. Et il montre les autres tels qu'ils sont. Il a fait sienne la malice shakespearienne : “All the world's a stage.” 1955-1979 : notre pièce dure 24 ans en quelques heures. Il y a 50 tableaux. Glad someone recommended this to me. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. Still a good book.

Really enjoyed this one. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Glad I picked this up.

Good, but not quite perfect. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Really enjoyed this one. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Would probably read it again at some point.
