Overview: The Water Margin is, in China's history, the first traditional novel with each chapter headed by a couplet giving the gist of its content. The book was categorized by later generations to be one of four classical literary classics. The novel describes a robbers' group led by Song Jiang at the Liangshanbo Lake. This group of people, forced to become robbers, expanded their sphere of influence before their eventual allegiance to the Court, and were afterwards authorized to go forth to conquest. This time, the book is published in the classic comic form in order to meet the needs of children. The book is also suitable for purchase and collection by readers.

Shi Nai'an writes contemporary fiction and has always been fascinated by character-driven stories. They hold a degree in English Literature and previously worked as an editor before transitioning to writing their own books. Shi Nai'an lives with their spouse and a very vocal rescue cat.

Glad someone recommended this to me. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Would probably read it again at some point.

A very satisfying read. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Will be looking for more from this author.
