Overview: Ah, good ol’ number five. Yes, this is our writer’s group’s fifth Halloween Anthology. Our others are titled: Hapless Halloween, A Handful of Halloween, Here’s to Halloween, and A Hint of Halloween. (Sensing an alliteration theme here?) When we hold our monthly workshops, the creativity that spills from these writer’s pens is inspiring. I enjoy a good story, and this group never fails to give me one. I feel very fortunate to have this group of eclectic, amazing, intelligent people spinning yarns and ribbing one another, because we have all become friends. Sometimes a passion can do that. It can bring people together who might otherwise never have the fortune of having their lives touched by such incredible human beings. I have been facilitating this group for nearly ten years now, and I’ve watched people grow in both their writing and their creativity. My greatest reward is seeing the great strides we have all made over the years. But I am saddened to say we lost a gifted writer this year: Muriel Morris. She was a vibrant, fun-loving soul who had much to offer, both in and out of our group. We miss her peppiness. Her dramatic flair. And her stories with distinct characters, especially the sassy heroines, who were a lot like Muriel in many ways. So we dedicate this anthology to our fellow writer, who passed away much too soon. It was just alright. Some parts were interesting, while others were a bit of a slog to get through. A generous 3 stars.
