Overview: Organic chemistry is the chemistry of compounds of carbon. The ability of carbon to link together to form long chain molecules and ring compounds as well as bonding with many other elements has led to a vast array of organic compounds. These compounds are central to life, forming the basis for organic molecules such as nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. In this Very Short Introduction Graham Patrick covers the whole range of organic compounds and their roles. Finished it in a couple of days. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Will be looking for more from this author.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Would probably read it again at some point.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. A solid 5/5 for me.

Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. A solid 4 stars from me.
