Overview: L’archivistica è rimasta una materia piuttosto acerba, sempre in attesa di raggiungere la maturità che caratterizza in genere le scienze umane. Oggi, dinanzi a una società in piena crisi d’identità, che non riesce a mettere a frutto le sue risorse culturali e a risolvere antichi e nuovi problemi di efficienza, essa ha l’occasione di superare il tradizionale ruolo subalterno di disciplina ausiliaria della storia o di semplice complesso di buoni consigli per l’ordinata tenuta degli archivi, per il buon uso del registro di protocollo o per la ricerca dei documenti.A questo scopo, occorre sviluppare la consapevolezza che l’archivistica moderna può finalmente costituire invece un sapere autonomo, dotato di un proprio oggetto, di un solido e rigoroso paradigma teorico, di uno specifico armamentario metodologico e tecnico e di un cospicuo corredo di buone pratiche. È la prospettiva di quel salto di qualità che può permettere agli archivisti di svolgere un riconoscibile ruolo di garanti sia della funzionalità degli archivi all’efficienza delle organizzazioni (istituzioni, aziende, imprese), sia della corretta conservazione e della valorizzazione delle fonti documentarie per la memoria e per la storia.Questo manuale allora, senza nascondere limiti e ritardi di elaborazione teorica da parte del mondo degli archivi e difficoltà legate al mancato rispetto di questa funzione sociale degli archivisti, si propone di fornire agli studenti gli elementi iniziali ed essenziali per la conoscenza dei fondamenti dell’archivistica e per l’elaborazione e per l’utilizzo degli strumenti con cui opera. I was pleasantly surprised. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Would probably read it again at some point.
