Jurgen Melzers Vater, Rudolf Melzer (SPO), war von 1998 bis 2001 Burgermeister der Stadt Deutsch-Wagram; seine Mutter Michaela Melzer ist Angestellte. Melzers jungerer Bruder Gerald ist ebenfalls Profi-Tennisspieler. Jurgen Melzer debutierte auf der ATP-Tour bei der BA-CA Tennis Trophy 1999 in Wien. Durch einen Sieg mit 7:6 2:6 6:3 uber Lars Burgsmuller erreichte er die zweite Runde und verlor dort 4:6 0:6 gegen Nicolas Kiefer. Im Jahr 2000 qualifizierte er sich fur die Wimbledon Championships, wo er aber schon in der ersten Runde gegen Mark Philippoussis in vier Satzen verloren hat. Weiters spielte er noch bei den ATP-Turnieren Grand Prix St. Polten und Generali Open in Kitzbuhel mit, wo er aber auch jeweils in der ersten Runde scheiterte. Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Will be looking for more from this author.
