Overview: SESUDAH saya menulis beberapa kitab mengenai Mazhab Syi'ah, terutama Syi'ah Isna Asyar Imamiyah atau Mazhab Ahlil Ba'it, dan tersebar tidak saja di seluruh Indonesia, tetapi juga di luar negeri, misalnya di Malaysia, banyak orang bertanya kepada saya, kapan aliran Syi'ah itu masuk ke Indonesia.Kitab-kitab dalam Bahasa Belanda, di antaranya, "De Leering van Walisongo" menjelaskan hal itu. Demikian juga kitab-kitab yang ditulis Prof. Dr. C. Snouck Hurgronje, Prof. Dr. Pangeran Aria Hussain Djajadiningrat, B. J. O. Schrieke, dan lain-lain menyebutkan, bahwa orang-orang Islam yang mula-mula masuk ke Indonesia itu adalah orang-orang Syi'ah, yang kemudian menjadi raja-raja di Nusantara. Keterangan yang lebih lanjut dapat juga dibaca dalam kitab-kitab penerbitan gerakan Ba Alawi, yang secara detail mencatat keturunan Ali bin Abi Thalib di Indonesia.Maka saya catatlah beberapa hal tentang kedatangan orang-orang Syi'ah itu ke Indonesia, mula-mula atas permintaan bahagian kebudayaan dari Pemerintah Malaysia, kemudian saya terbitkan di sini sebagai risalah ini, untuk dibaca oleh bangsa Indonesia sendiri.ABOEBAKAR ATJEH yang dilahirkan di Kutaraja pada 28 April 1909, merupakan ilmuan "otodidak". Berkat kegigihannya, ia berhasil menjadi salah seorang intelektual Islam yang produktif pada masanya. Pada 30 Januari 1967, ia memperoleh Doctor Honoris Causa dari Universitas Islam Djakarta dan diangkat sebagai Guru Besar pada berbagai universitas di Indonesia. Ia menguasai beberapa bahasa asing, seperti bahasa Arab, Belanda, Jepang, Perancis, Jerman, dan Inggris. Karya-karyanya yang termasyhur di antaranya: Sejarah Al-Quran, Sejarah Ka'bah, Perjuangan Wanita Islam, Kemerdekaan Beragama, Pengantar Sejarah Sufi dan Tasawuf, Pengantar Ilmu Tarekat, Syi'ah: Rasionalisme dalam Islam, Pendidikan Sufi, Wasiat Ibn Arabi, Ilmu Fiqih Islam dalam Lima Mazhab, dan lain-lain.
