Overview: O cachorro Samba era ainda filhote quando recebeu um lar, que por sinal era muito confortável. Ele recebeu esse nome porque quando chegou na casa de seus novos donos era Carnaval e os sambas eram as músicas que mais tocavam nas rádios. No colo da vovó, lambendo a orelha dos donos ou brincando com a garotada, o cachorrinho Samba era a alegria da casa. A casa tinha outro cachorro, Whisky, que mostra a Samba que o lugar do cachorro é na casa dos donos: em uma fuga sua para a rua, Whisky volta todo machucado. Mas Samba não aprende a lição. Um dia, quando ele vê a porta de saída aberta, ele resolve conhece por conta própria como é a vida fora da casa. Nesse passeio, ele conhece um cachorro da vizinhança, Cricri, que o convida para dar uma volta em um local mais distante. Quando eles encontram um vira-lata, Cricri diz a Samba que eles precisam voltar para casa. Para mostrar que é corajoso, Samba decide ir mais longe de casa com o vira-lata e acaba se perdendo na cidade. Samba é preso por outra família, que lhe amputa o rabo e lhe dá o novo nome de Feitiço. Samba, agora Feitiço, consegue fugir de sua nova casa e vive novas aventuras na cidade, conhecendo perigos, pessoas ameaçadoras e lugares desconhecidos. A very satisfying read. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. A solid 5/5 for me.
