Overview: In ‘Thuis’ verkent Pieter Hoexum het onzichtbare alledaagse: dichters, architecten en filosofen leiden hem tot een beter begrip van het begrip thuis, maar brengen hem even vaak op een dwaalspoor. Tijdens verschillende verblijven in het Roland Holsthuis in Bergen (NH) ging Hoexum op zoek naar een antwoord op de vraag: ‘Wat is thuis?’ Hij werd daarbij aan het denken gezet door een uitspraak van Wittgenstein: ‘De aspecten van de dingen die voor ons het belangrijkste zijn blijven voor ons door hun eenvoud en alledaagsheid verborgen.’ Hoexum gaat niet alleen te rade bij Wittgenstein, Heidegger, Bachelard en andere filosofen: hij dwaalt, tast de ruimte af, en merkt hoe een vreemd huis langzaam in zijn lichaam kruipt. A very satisfying read. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.
