Overview: I marts 2020 går Pelle Hvenegaard i gang med et simpelt, men også lettere uoverskueligt projekt: at skrive 1 digt hver aften i 100 dage, ud fra de følelser, tanker og oplevelser, der måtte presse sig på. Skæbnen vil, at corona-epidemien 10 dage inde i eksperimentet lukker Danmark ned. Dermed kommer Pelle til at sætte ord på hverdagen under en af danmarkshistoriens største kriser.Pelle skriver om det helt nære. Der, hvor humøret går i sort, når al indtægt pludselig forsvinder, og kroppen svulmer op, når der trøstespises. Der, hvor ”skal vi lege” synes at være hans 4-årige datters eneste ordforråd, nu hvor børnehaven er lukket, og farmor er gået i coronaskjul. Men også der, hvor kærligheden blomstrer, når den lille rødmende er forelsket i William fra MGP – og der hvor mørket forsvinder, og meningen findes, når han leger eller lægger sig i ske med sin datter.Han digter om livet udenfor, hvor der er fællessang og jazz i gården, og hvor man pludselig kan sove en lørdag nat, fordi byen er død og stille. Og om at drages mod naturen, hvor fuglene ikke har opdaget, at der er krise, og stadig synger livgivende videre.Han kigger også ud i verden, ud på de ting, der sætter det hele i perspektiv. Han sender tanker til sine venners børn på Mallorca, der ikke er uden for en dør i seks uger, og videre ned til de syriske flygninge, der ville ønske, at corona var deres største problem i livet.Og selvom epidemien ikke er så dødelig herhjemme, må Pelle alligevel forholde sig til døden i løbet af de 100 dage. Både Max von Sydow, Yahya Hassan og George Floyd dør og får hver et digt med på vejen, og Pelle står i et dilemma, da han opdager, at han skylder penge til en mand, der nu er død.Pelles digtning er direkte, og hans digte er lette at læse. Han kommer vidt omkring, og bogen er for dem, der gerne vil have et humoristisk, rørende og tankevækkende tilbageblik på en tid, hvor vi alle nok må spørge: hvad fanden skete der lige dér?!

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Pretty good overall. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Still a good book.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Will be looking for more from this author.
