Overview: Zonder vertalingen had onze cultuur er heel anders uitgezien. De onafgebroken invloed van de talen die ons omringen, heeft de cultuur van de Lage Landen gemaakt tot wat zij nu is: een internationale, meertalige en cultureel diverse omgeving waarvan vertalingen een prominent onderdeel uitmaken. Vertalen in de Nederlanden brengt in beeld wat en hoe er in de Nederlanden door de eeuwen heen is vertaald, wie daarbij betrokken waren en in hoeverre vertalingen van belang zijn geweest voor sociale en culturele veranderingen. Zowel het medische en juridische als het literaire en wetenschappelijke vertalen en hun contexten worden beschreven. Vanzelfsprekend is er ook aandacht voor de vertalingen van de Bijbel. Niet eerder werd de geschiedenis van het vertalen in Nederland en Vlaanderen uit de doeken gedaan. Deze eerste vertaalgeschiedenis biedt een doorlopend overzicht dat de geschiedenis van het vertalen in de Nederlanden weergeeft van de middeleeuwen tot heden. Really enjoyed this one. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Will be looking for more from this author.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Glad I picked this up.
