Overview: Pode Um Desejo Imenso conta a história de Nuno Galvão, professor universitário de Literatura, que pensa ter descoberto a chave para a compreensão da poesia lírica de Camões: a paixão do poeta pelo jovem D. António de Noronha, de quem Camões teria sido precetor. Nuno está ele próprio apaixonado por um estudante, em quem projeta a história de amor por si imaginada entre o poeta quinhentista e o seu aluno. Na parte central do livro, a narrativa volta atrás, aos tempos em que o próprio Nuno era estudante, já nessa altura ocupado com a poesia lírica de Camões e com a paixão não correspondida por um colega de curso. No final do romance, juntam-se os vários fios da história; e Nuno acaba por aprender como rumar «em direção à outra margem», onde se abre a hipótese possível de um amor feliz.Vinte anos depois da primeira edição, esta é a versão definitiva de Pode Um Desejo Imenso, como é desejo do autor.A versão original de Pode um desejo imenso ganhou o Prémio PEN para a primeira obra (2002) e foi reeditada quatro vezes. Agora, em 2006, o autor recebeu, por unanimidade do júri presidido por Eduardo Lourenço, o Prémio Europa / David Mourão-Ferreira, numa iniciativa conjunta da Universidade de Bari, do Instituto Camões e da Fundação Gulbenkian. Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. Still a good book.

I was pleasantly surprised. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

It was just alright. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

Finished it in a couple of days. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Glad I picked this up.
